6 Little Elm, TX Little Elm, TX Full-time Full-time $16 - $17 an hour $16 - $17 an hour All positions and employees are vital to the operation of SPAG, however; Residential Direct Support Professionals are in the unique and important role of providing for the everyday needs of the youth in the care of SPAG.
It is this position that has the greatest potential to form trusting relationships with the youth and make a lasting impact on their ability to trust, engage in healthy relationships, and provide for the needs of their own children.
This position requires a person to be at least 21 years of age and have a high school degree or GED equivalence.
It is preferred that caregivers have previous experience working in a residential setting or other related job experience including 2 years work experience with adolescents within the last 10 years.
The basic function of Residential Direct Support Professionals shall provide basic daily care services for the youth, establish and build supportive and nurturing relationships with the youth and shall either provide or arrange all services to meet the youth's needs.
Responsibilities Include:
1.
Protecting the health, safety, and well-being of the youth in care, 2.
Ensure that assigned duties are performed adequately, 3.
Knowing which youth, they are responsible for, 4.
Providing childcare services for each assigned youth, 5.
Being aware of and accountable for each youth's on-going activity, 6.
Providing the level of supervision necessary to ensure each youth's safety and well-being, including auditory and/or visual awareness of each youth's on-going activity as appropriate and 7.
Being able to intervene when necessary to ensure each youth's safety.

Deciding how closely to supervise a youth taking into account:
a.
The youth's age, b.
Individual differences and abilities, c.
The layout of the operation, inside and outside, d.
Surrounding circumstances, hazards, and risks, e.
The youth's physical, mental, emotional, and social needs, as well as f.
Any supervision or safety plan that has been put into place.

Being aware of the youth's habits, interests, and any special needs, including any special supervision needs.

Providing a safe environment.
11.
Cultivating developmentally appropriate independence in youth through planned but flexible program activities.
12.
Positively reinforcing youth's efforts and accomplishments.
13.
Ensuring continuity of care for youth by sharing with incoming Direct Support Professionals information about each youth's activities during the previous shift and any verbal or written information or instructions given by the DFPS/SSCC Caseworker or other professionals; and 14.
Implementing and follow the youth's service plans.
15.
Maintain daily progress notes for each youth in their care to include their signature, date, and time the note was completed.
